We are seeking several Social Media Interns to help create engaging social media content in support of our mission. This is an unpaid, remotely located positions requiring at least 10 hours a week. Internships can be offered for school credit. Social Media Interns will form a team to develop and create content to inform and engage the general public, NY lawmakers, and cannabis community on legalization issues pertaining to environmental, economic, and social policies. This role is not for mentorship but to provide the ideal candidate with an opportunity to create content as well as help to shape the voice of the NY Cannabis movement. Students in Communications, Cannabis Studies, Agriculture, and Environmental/Natural Resource studies are encouraged to apply. However, strong social media, knowledge, skills and experience are requirements.
Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will regularly gather data, information, and the layout of cannabis supporters and consumers in the social media space; produce creative and engaging content across all platforms; and be in line with organizational mission.

- Development and implement innovative marketing campaigns
- Produce creatives both static and video
- Schedule posts and engage with community, monitor trends in community, current evens, and develop ideas to capitalize on these moments
- Reach out to influencers and online publications on behalf of organization
- develop surveys to assess public opinion
- Monitor and analyze post performance, tag posts, and assist with organization asset logistics
Qualifications:
- Detail-oriented individuals who want to create engaging content
- Excellent English, written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in social media marketing, market research, communications, journalism, or related field
- Experience in agriculture, cultivation, environmental issues, social issues, artisanal businesses a plus
- Knowledge of cannabis legalization issues and NY communities a plus
- Experience creating custom static and video content for social
- Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative data collection
- Experience creating custom static and video content for social
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work well in teams
- Must be at least 18 years old
